Leavers Poems
Through my time
Through my time at Abercarn
I have learnt what to say and do,
That it's ok to make a fool
And there are times when you feel blue.
As the years came and went
I improved as one should,
Living in the moment no matter what that meant
But in the end, everything was good!
Up and down is how I describe
What was meant to be the journey of a life,
There is a person inside me
Who I will always strive to be.
In this class there are different people
But each person makes us who we are,
We find the fun in everything
And everyone is in my heart.
Out of all my teachers in the school
Not one of them has been cruel,
They have helped me learn with one goal
To help me out and play their role.
This whole poem makes me cringe
And I can't get the hang of the whole rhyming thing,
But I cannot express my gratitude
To those who helped me through and through
So, I say goodbye and thank you!
One last chance
One last chance to be at Abercarn,
One last chance to remember,
One last chance to see those faces that you know now so well.
One last chance to say goodbye,
One last chance to realize,
That all is not lost and gone forever,
But they are in our hearts and that all that matters.
One last chance to take it all in,
One last chance to remember the smells, the friendship all within,
The wall of our school that we will remember forever.
Thank you Abercarn Primary
Three cheers for Abercan Primary,
A very special place,
7 years have passed so quickly,
Our time spent in this space.
You’ve nurtured us Abercarn,
And helped us through the years,
You joined in with our laughter,
You dried away our tears.
You’ve challenged us Abercarn,
To be the best we can,
You’ve helped us reach our targets,
You’ve set us out a plan.
You’ve sparkled bright Abercarn,
With Christmas Plays and more,
Full of funny punchlines,
Cherished moments – never a bore!
Our Sports Day at Abercarn,
Each house shows sporting flair,
We run and jump, and throw so high,
The beanbags in the air.
The school clubs at Abercarn,
Have kept us entertained,
From Sport to Art, Music and Lego,
What experiences we have had.
Great times within Abercarn,
We’ve worked hard for every test,
Earned House Points, Privilege Cards, Gold Awards,
Extra Breaks were the best!
Parent Evenings at Abercarn,
A chance for parents to listen,
To find out how we’re doing,
And see that we have glistened.
The Office ladies at Abercarn,
Kind and helpful with us all,
Always patient with frazzled parents,
And always answer a call.
The Dinner ladies at Abercarn,
Who go that extra mile,
To make sure that we eat,
And serve it with a smile.
Things need mending at Abercarn,
Mr Watson saves the day,
A lick of paint, a broken lock,
Is fixed without delay.
The cleaners at Abercarn,
Keep the school so fresh and clean,
So that we have a nice place to work,
They make the windows gleam.
The pupils at the heart of Abercarn,
Where love and kindness grows,
We come together and celebrate,
With Mrs Tavas, who everyone knows!
So, THREE CHEERS for Abercarn Primary,
Let’s shout a HIP HOORAY!
A new journey begins, but memories were made,
Thank you all for every day!
The Full Stop Day Poem
Last six hours of primary school
Goodbye is getting near
The sums and sentences all done
The full stop day is here
Last five hours of primary school
Where everything's before
The aims and games and crazes
no one’s crazy for no more
Last four hours of primary school
Surrounded by a class
who'll scatter soon and not return
when summer’s days have passed
Last three hours of primary school
One final lunchtime play
Instead of chasing friends we try
to chase and catch the day
Last two hours of primary school
The clock hands blur and skid
Signing shirts, remembering
the coolest things we did
Last one hour of primary school
where teachers understood
And helped me see I could achieve
for they believed I could
Last half hour of primary school
The assembly we all dread
We cannot sing - us Year Six kings
The crown slips from our heads
Last ever second of primary school
The full stop rings in our ears
But a thousand chapters left to write
We must vacate our childhood site
For time moves on and time is right -
To leave our wonder years
